Who Feels It Knows

When we love too much, we're bound to get hurt. The only thing that matters is if it was worth it.

No priceless treasure is found without drilling deep

Many times in life we come in contact with beautiful people. This beauty is not always only skin deep and sometimes we fail to recognize it at first glance. Sometimes there is beauty in that person, then with time…it vanishes. I am certain that people we love have left scars. Some hurt us without knowing, others look in your eyes with a smile while plunging a knife into your heart.

I have learnt that, after they have left, the people do not matter any more…it is the good memories. I guess if there are no good memories then we have nothing to dwell on. For me, personally, I get attached to people quite easily and although I have been hurt more than once it seems like I don’t learn. I believe it is a dangerous addiction to the feeling you get by caring about people. It is often painful, but, we are humans and seem to enjoy it.

For me, friendships do not usually last long so I enjoy them for as long as they last. “I am convinced now that love does not exist or at least if it does I am incapable of keeping it around long enough to even know it was love at all”, but, I have ceased questioning myself about what have I done, where did I go wrong and what is wrong with me? Some friendships are like those tropical romantic flings we read about so often. We enjoy the thrills and want it to last, but, not everything is durable and what we want is not always what’s best for us. As humans we all desire perfect, untainted, unconditional love from other, yet, we often fail to give the same. Some of us give of and give up ourselves with abandon while others trample our hearts in the dust. Being the carnal beings we are, we tend to always take instead of giving.

What happens when the wells are dry? the coffers empty? hearts bitter?

Friendships in and of themselves are beautiful. The people that waltz into our lives leave footprints and we leave footprints in the lives of others.
Let our footprints be delicate ones that do no harm in the lives of others.

Just Ordinary People

We’re just ordinary people
We don’t know which way to go
Take it slow
-John Legend

As humans we are not in control of all that happens to us. Our lives are shaped by the society in which we live and the people in it. Even though we cannot constantly keep tabs on our lives, we can ensure that our lives are headed in the right direction by the choices we make.

Let us face it. Regardless of where we are in life, our status, who we are, what we can do, our skin colour, religious backgrounds, we all had to start somewhere. We all started our lives as helpless babies with other people making choices for us. As we grow (I say grow because we are still growing) older we learn to let go of some of those guardians and influences and want to do things on our own.

We are all just ordinary people. We, however have the potential to do extraordinary things. We can do whatever we are committed to, achieve as many goals as we aspire to, climb our own Everest and plant our flag.

Life is for living, making memories and mistakes, meeting people and living our dreams.Remember that we are just ordinary people, but, it takes ordinary people to make heroes.😐

Enjoy life because…

Sometimes you only get one shot
Gotta give it all [you] got
‘Cause [you] ain’t got nothing to lose
So much to prove…
Gotta go hard or go home
-Jussie Smollett, Empire Season 1

We all make mistakes. We are human and we are not perfect. What really matters, however, is whether we allow our mistakes to make us or break us

-Ntini Edwards

Sometimes we say things we do not necessarily mean or we act on impulse. Let us face the facts- as humans we make irrational decisions and act before thinking. When we do this we end up hurting the ones we love. Mistakes are not usually planned for, because then they would not be mistakes.

Being the flesh, blood and bone that we are, we are susceptible to erring. That is where acceptance comes into play. We must first accept the fact that we are flawed and that we are not perfect. If we cannot accept our flaws we cannot expect to receive forgiveness.

I am flawed and I probably will always be, but knowing this I hope you can accept and forgive me

Life is not about being perfect, however it is about the pursuit of happiness or even better self-discovery. When we are capable of controlling our emotions, thoughts and reactions we can attest to having completed an incredible feat. Being in control of oneself is an honour as that is one of the most difficult challenges in life. Even then, you will not be perfect, but with this accomplishment you are just a step away from the seemingly impossible.
